Sleepless Nights Turn Up Some Amazing Finds...
#1: Twisted Lamb
I just finished watching Towelhead and I'm much too disturbed to sleep. In my search for peace of mind, I stumbled upon Twisted Lamb... and I have to say I'm in blog love.
Before I move on to samples of images on this blog, let me share with you the first entry.
Dear whoever you are,
Bless this blog
So it may writhe
Sick twisted fashion
That keeps us black sheep alive.
A-fucking-men
-Twisted Lamb
Seriously now. I wish I had known of this blog since day 1.
Now on to images...
If you like what you see, there are much much more where those came from. Please visit Twisted Lamb for more, I assure you, you won't be disappointed.
#2: Dinner In The Sky
I really don't really have anything else to say about this concept aside from "Where do I sign up!?" I think the pictures are pretty self explanatory. For the Vegas dinner, $199 will get you a gourmet dinner during sunset, with a view of the Las Vegas Strip. I believe this is offered in various countries including the US, Belgium, France and the UK. For more info please go to Dinner In The Sky

This Thanksgiving....
Aside from the obvious family and friends, I, Robyn aka Sweet Sacrilege, am thankful for... Mickey Rourke: and to be clear, both the hot young Mickey AND old bat shit crazy Mickey. Because, really... I can't resist a chihuahua loving, champagne straight from the bottle guzzling, ex hottie like Mickey. If you haven't seen the movie Spun, then you must. If not for Mickey, then do it for the green dog named Taco.
Happy Thanksgiving all!
Happy Thanksgiving all!

Oops
I completely forgot about these pictures I took, over 6 months ago, of some purchases I made while shopping in Long Beach. I only found recently found them whilst uploading pictures from the Three Apples: Hello Kitty Gothic Party at Royal/T.
so glad I nabbed these yellow python print lace up boots! I've gotten great use out of them!
And finally a non-corny Youtube video of my favorite song by the Distillers.

An Unusual Inspiration
Brassai yet again. I really cannot seem to get enough of this wonderful photographer..
I don't know what it is, but I look at this photo and feel completely drawn to this woman. Do you not just want to interrogate her and find out her life story? I know I do.
Apart from that, I'm also completely inspired by this picture. Such glamorous things on an seemingly unglamorous woman. Even in their tattered state, everything still seems as opulent and rich as ever.
On another note, it seems as though I'm not the only person inspired by this picture. I saw it briefly flash on the screen whilst watching The September Issue. I nearly squealed when I saw my favorite bag lady on the silver screen.
scanned by me.

X Ray Spex!
Just came back from a fun filled weekend in Las Vegas, and still getting back into the swing of things. Hanging out off the strip is highly underrated. Aside from the food, I think I much prefer the nightlife at such places as the Peppermill Fireside Lounge. SO AMAZING! (Although.. the corporate parties during various conventions are always a blast *ahem free booze*)
That being said, the food in the larger hotels really can't be beat.. I mean c'mon. Joel Robuchon? Cut Steakhouse? Bouchon? Charlie Palmer? .... Atelier Robuchon?
Anyways, just wanted to do a quick update just because. Here's some X Ray Spex tunes from youtube!

You Feel the Need, It Lets You Bleed, You Must Concede, My Love
"During my first years in Paris I lived at night, going to bed at sunrise, getting up at sunset, wandering about the city from Montparnasse to Montmartre. And even though I had always ignored and disliked photography before, I was inspired to become a photographer by my desire to translate all the things that enchanted me in the nocturnal Paris I was experiencing."-Brassai
I've been holding on to these images for quite some time. Several months ago, while perusing the library, I stumbled upon a book by Brasaai entitled The Secret Paris of the 30s. I was immediately captured by his sense of adventure, and how he delved deep into the nocturnal life of Paris. The book was filled with pictures depicting bordellos, street-walkers, mobsters, and alternative night clubs. I found the whole book very inspiring.
I think I practically scanned the whole book, and I plan to eventually share most of my scans.. but for tonight, I'd like to share one of favorite sets: The Opium Den.
The Chinoserie decor wrapped in a smoky haze of mysticism and the dream like state of the subjects.. okay well the extremely high state of the subjects, leaves me yearning to jump into my own embroidered silk robe, light a bunch of candles, and due a bunch of nothing.

Preen S/S 2010
Earlier this afternoon, a hardcore Preen loving friend of mine clued me in to how extremely amazing Preen's Spring 2010 show was. And indeed she was correct.
While, California is quite season-less, I sometimes feel that dressing for warm weather can be difficult. Especially with my aesthetics. Usually in the summer, I resort to skimpy sundresses with boots, or loose tank tops/belted tunics with short shorts. Preen always seems to offer something more, something inspiring for those warmer days.
Let's start off with dresses. The first dress just kills me. As long as I can remember, I've been obsessed with lingerie inspired clothing. So the lace, mesh, corset-esque piping initially drew me in, then the flash of pink and the cutouts made me go insane.
Also, I rarely pay attention to bottoms during fashion shows. But how could you not ignore these? Again I fell for the lace and pink piping number. I'm also quite obsessed with the jumpsuit and metallic jodhpurs.
