The Bullet Screams To Me From Somewhere...

Is anyone else completely bored and feeling uninspired by fashion as of late? For the past couple of months fashion has left me feeling, well...a bit stale. I'd elaborate on the many reasons behind my boredom, but I don't have the time nor the energy to open this can of worms.

Anyway, while wading in the clusterfuck that is my brain, I thought I'd pop on the blog and really start to share things that consistently inspire or move me. Hence this Alice in Chains post (actually it's more like a Layne Staley tribute). After all, good music and gorgeous men never cease to inspire =)

Alice in Chains is by far my favorite group to come out of the 90s grunge scene. Yes, I like them more than Nirvana. Blasphemy? Who knows. Nirvana may have Alice beat in quantity of good songs, but no Nirvana song beats The Rooster..or Man in the Box.. or Would for that matter. Just my humble 2 cents.

Regardless of the preference, Alice In Chains has some really seductive and dark grunge tunes. There's nothing I've been enjoying more than drowning out the world and listening to "the Rooster' full blast. I've gone ahead and embedded my favorite Alice in Chains songs in this post for your auditory pleasure...

Oh and of course, I had to put up some eye candy aka the late Layne Staley.

So You Want A Little Piece of Ozzy History?

If I had $6500 in spare change, I would love to get my claws on this.

Apparently, this is an extremely rare leather bound book given only to The Blizzard of Ozz tour's full time employees and band members (15 employees + the band). It's basically 500 page scrapbook of the 1981 tour. How fucking awesome is that!? Anyways the seller is asking for $6500. I wonder if someone will buy?

X Ray Spex!

Just came back from a fun filled weekend in Las Vegas, and still getting back into the swing of things. Hanging out off the strip is highly underrated. Aside from the food, I think I much prefer the nightlife at such places as the Peppermill Fireside Lounge. SO AMAZING! (Although.. the corporate parties during various conventions are always a blast *ahem free booze*)

That being said, the food in the larger hotels really can't be beat.. I mean c'mon. Joel Robuchon? Cut Steakhouse? Bouchon? Charlie Palmer? .... Atelier Robuchon?

Feed My Eyes, Can You Sew Them Shut?

Been feeling a little bit moody lately and listening to Man in the Box over and over and over again lately.. Layne was such an amazing singer


Anyways......

For the past year or so, I've been completely obsessed with getting my hands on a plain black maxi dress (non-empire, non-halter) or plain black long skirt . It also seems like everyone else is on the same page, because everytime I found one, they'd always be sold out or out of my size.

A couple weeks ago, I finally found it: A gorgeous Y-3 by Yohji Yamamoto maxi dress with horizontal stripes of varying degress of sheerness.

Originally wanted to wear my platform boots (from my early college days) but I was anticipating a day of possibly carrying boxes around the office, so decided to stick with the flat motorcycle boots.

I tried taking pictures of the actual outfit I wore, but the details wouldn't show up, so it's just the dress and boots.

The pictures below illustrate how I dress to outdoor concerts that go from day to night. While not amazingly stylish by any means, it's all very strategic.

a) Comfortable shoes for walking from car to box office, box office to end of huge fucking line, back of the line to front entrance, entrance to seat. If you've been to Verizon Wireless Ampitheater in Irvine, you know why comfy shoes are essential.
b) Bright color in case friend and I get split up (it was a NIN show, it's safe to assume that most are in head to toe, or mostly black)
c) Layers. Brought a Sex Pistols Fuck Forever thermal and men's black distressed leather motorcycle jacket.
d) Omission of spikes. At most large shows, I've been asked to remove them (which means throw them away or go back to the car).




Now this is what I really wanted to post. Thanks to NIN, I almost went blind. I posted two pictures to illustrate how fucking bright the lighting was.




Lastly... I'm usually not attracted to lead singers of bands but gawd.. TRENT REZNOR just does it for me.

The Perfect Drug

Found out today, thanks to a most generous and wonderful friend, that there's a good chance I might be going to see NIN and Jane's Addiction tomorrow.

In light of such news, I wanted to share some information I gathered, from another wonderful blog, Wicked Halo.

Regardless, if you're into Nine Inch Nails or not, it is my opinion that the music video for Closer is relevant in fashion now. This video was definatley been an inspiration for me when I was in my teen years. Besides, Trent Reznor is HOT. That being said....

This video gives some great insight into the art that inspired the Closer music video. It's about a half hour long but worth the time (nothing like Making of the Video a la MTV).

I don't feel being a style icon necessitates great outfits, sometimes I feel that raw energy is enough. That being said, Brody Dalle is one of my ultimate style icons. She dresses like any other gutter punk, but none quite look like nor sound like her. The things I'd do to have that voice.
