Ordinary Objects Can Become Something Else....

"In my work, I talk about two things. One is about the search for possible changes and new meanings in the most ordinary objects of our daily lives. I believe that many of the mundane objects have boudless capabilities of transforming into something else. Under the moto ORDINARY OBJECTS CAN BECOME SOMETHING ELSE, my works come mostly from my childhood experiences. By little(or it may be big) transformations they make, the objects gain new meanings with only one purpose/function.
Second is to express the symphony of design and craft. My projects never undergo machinery process. Therefore only small quantities are 'crafted' out of my hands" -Kwangho Lee

Kwangho Lee is an amazing furniture, lighting and jewelry designer based out of Korea. I was originally drawn the amazing sponge block seats, but then I saw the woven lights.

I"m particularly obsessed with black deconstructed piece.

Hudson Furniture Inc also makes amazing chandeliers. The first two are my favorites.

I started getting free issues of Metropolitan Home magazine home today, and found an ad for this furniture company. Hudson Furniture Inc, is a NYC based company specializing in furniture made from salved & wind/storm damaged trees (none of the trees are harvested from old growth forests). This basically means that their furniture is made from trees that need to be removed in order to save surrounding trees, homes, etc.

Hudson Furniture works with the tree's natural forms and grains by utilizing traditional joinery techniques and hand rubbed oil finishes.

Here are a few of my favorites.
















Hudson is also "New York's only repository for legally harvested petrified wood". I'm obsessed with these end tables/stools.

Coffin Couches & Ohne Titel

Today I stumbled upon Haute Macabre, a super bitchin blog focusing on all things dark. Seriously I'm in love.

Annnywhoo, whilst clicking around said blog, I stumbled upon this coffin couch . Seriously how fucking rad are these things? Apparently they're recycled (used but not buried). Of course, me being my demented self, don't give a rats ass about it. I NEED THIS. Immediamente por favor. .
