Yesterday I saw a little bit of the Julien Macdonald collection and was enraptured by the look I posted yesterday. Granted, it's not "original" in the sense that crazy furs and shredded things have been all over the blogosphere. But who cares, it doesn't change the fact that it's fucking hot as hell. And yes. It's fact. Not opinion.

That being said, I was actually excited to see the full collection on I think I'm in love.

Ann-Sofie Back Fall 2009

Ann-Sofie Back, like Alexander Wang, is one of those collections that I usually highly anticipate every season. And unlike Alexander Wang, she didn't disappoint. This collection was inspired by American Horror movies.

I loved the styling, the pieces, and the makeup. I feel inspired. Thank You Ann-Sofie.

Goodbye New York, Hello London

First off, thanks Luxirare for mentioning me in her blog. I was completely surprised to see that you recommended my little blog since I think so highly of yours!

I am SO SO SO SO (X 10000) happy that NY Fashion Week is finally over. Every season, I get so antsy when NY Fashion Week rolls around for the following reasons:

1) 75% of it is absolute bullshit to me (no offense)
2) Because I know that just around the corner is London Fashion Week (my second favorite after Paris).
3) This year, I felt like everything looked the same, and the shows I do usually like, let me dow. Even Alexander Wang was a complete disappointment. It wasn't awful, but I had high hopes. It basically gave me blue balls, and I don't even have a pair.

So here's a super vague, laundry list of my thoughts on NY Fashion Week.

Buy: William Rast, Miss Sixty, Deisel, Betsey, maybe Max Azria, Charlotte Ronson
Aspire to buy: TSE, Yigal Azrouel, Staerk, Calvin Klein, Koi, (also see inspired by)
Inspired by: Three As Four, Christian Cota, Ohne Titel, Elise Overland, Rodarte
Style like: Miss Sixty, Deisel, maybe Jill Stuart
DIY: Phillip Lim men's studded collar shirt.

Anywho, I didn't consider any complete collections this year would be a panty-dropping hot. Okay, maybe, just maybe Rodarte. I might post pictures later.

Uhm.. no strong thoughts as of yet. However, I did like these looks from Charles Anastase's show. Make sure to enlarge the picture (by clicking) and check out the amazing boots!

And this look from Christopher Kane

I'll come back to post about Richard Nicoll.

The Collection That Started It All

These pictures are from Alexander McQueen's Fall 2001 Collection. This is what I believe to be the catalyst that started my obsession with high fashion. Before this, I was just a confused high school student with an identity crisis and bad shopping habit.

I love the accessories and props he used in this collection. The headresses and gold skeletons are amazing. There's this one image of a model with a gold human skeleton clinging to her ankle as it drags behind her. Too bad I can't find it anywhere =(

Coffin Couches & Ohne Titel

Today I stumbled upon Haute Macabre, a super bitchin blog focusing on all things dark. Seriously I'm in love.

Annnywhoo, whilst clicking around said blog, I stumbled upon this coffin couch . Seriously how fucking rad are these things? Apparently they're recycled (used but not buried). Of course, me being my demented self, don't give a rats ass about it. I NEED THIS. Immediamente por favor. .

Oh and I need these Ohne Titel boots and booties too

Fall 09 New York :: Part 1

It's New York Fashion Week. Here are a couple shows that I like thus far.
The pictures look small but if you click on them, they open up as large images and you can see my shitty photoshopping!

TSE: I'm usually not a fan of this label, but I LOVE this collection. The rust looks would look so awesome with some leather. I think the fur pieces speak for themselves.

Fucking Ernte

Ernte has been a label I've been kinda-sorta following since 2003. And after finally seeing it in person for the first time, I'm going to go ahead and say its possibly the best brand to ever exist. It's look is always consistant. It's edgy, dark, loud and glamourous. It fucking kills (it even says so on it's label).

Here are some more scans from an old issue of So-En magazine. This is pretty girly for my tastes, but I'm somehow drawn to it.

I actually love the vintage lace dress. It's probably more antique than vintage at this point. Anywho, I love that it has a patchwork quality to it while staying completely monochromatic. I really wish I could get my hands on a dress such as this one. It would be fun to play with different looks. I'd probably go for a Comme De Garcons bride meets Junya Watanabe's biker look.

On another note, I think it would be interesting to learn how to make REAL lace. The art of lace making seems to be dying out as generations pass on. Aw who the fuck am I kidding, I barely work on my sewing machine. I swear I have so many DIY projects that are half finished. Everything is pinned in place ready to sew on, but I somehow just pick up a new project instead. I suppose this a whole other entry unto itself.

Dress from 1925.

This lace is from 1740.

Issey Miyake Spring 2005

I'm going through the process of editing through my old magazines and found this spread from an old issue of S0-En magazine.  I remember being completely smitten with this collection when I first saw it. I loved how it was etheral, romantic and modern all at the same time.

When I browse fashion week photos, I usually like several collections. I save them the pictures I like, and look at them later. It's interesting to see trends progress throughout the course of several years. This collection is now a little over 4 years old, and usually by this time, I no longer find most of the collections relevant. However, this collection still does it for me.

I think I feel a DIY project coming on.
