Just came back from a fun filled weekend in Las Vegas, and still getting back into the swing of things. Hanging out off the strip is highly underrated. Aside from the food, I think I much prefer the nightlife at such places as the Peppermill Fireside Lounge. SO AMAZING! (Although.. the corporate parties during various conventions are always a blast *ahem free booze*)
That being said, the food in the larger hotels really can't be beat.. I mean c'mon. Joel Robuchon? Cut Steakhouse? Bouchon? Charlie Palmer? .... Atelier Robuchon?
Anyways, just wanted to do a quick update just because. Here's some X Ray Spex tunes from youtube!

You Feel the Need, It Lets You Bleed, You Must Concede, My Love
"During my first years in Paris I lived at night, going to bed at sunrise, getting up at sunset, wandering about the city from Montparnasse to Montmartre. And even though I had always ignored and disliked photography before, I was inspired to become a photographer by my desire to translate all the things that enchanted me in the nocturnal Paris I was experiencing."-Brassai
I've been holding on to these images for quite some time. Several months ago, while perusing the library, I stumbled upon a book by Brasaai entitled The Secret Paris of the 30s. I was immediately captured by his sense of adventure, and how he delved deep into the nocturnal life of Paris. The book was filled with pictures depicting bordellos, street-walkers, mobsters, and alternative night clubs. I found the whole book very inspiring.
I think I practically scanned the whole book, and I plan to eventually share most of my scans.. but for tonight, I'd like to share one of favorite sets: The Opium Den.
The Chinoserie decor wrapped in a smoky haze of mysticism and the dream like state of the subjects.. okay well the extremely high state of the subjects, leaves me yearning to jump into my own embroidered silk robe, light a bunch of candles, and due a bunch of nothing.

Preen S/S 2010
Earlier this afternoon, a hardcore Preen loving friend of mine clued me in to how extremely amazing Preen's Spring 2010 show was. And indeed she was correct.
While, California is quite season-less, I sometimes feel that dressing for warm weather can be difficult. Especially with my aesthetics. Usually in the summer, I resort to skimpy sundresses with boots, or loose tank tops/belted tunics with short shorts. Preen always seems to offer something more, something inspiring for those warmer days.
Let's start off with dresses. The first dress just kills me. As long as I can remember, I've been obsessed with lingerie inspired clothing. So the lace, mesh, corset-esque piping initially drew me in, then the flash of pink and the cutouts made me go insane.

Also, I rarely pay attention to bottoms during fashion shows. But how could you not ignore these? Again I fell for the lace and pink piping number. I'm also quite obsessed with the jumpsuit and metallic jodhpurs.

This Is Not An Exit...
It's currently 2AM in the morning, and I've consumed entirely too much caffeine today. In my insomniatic (Is that even a word? I think not) troll through cyberspace, I happened upon this amazing tee via Stylesightings. I love it. It's brilliant and it goes well with my current read (see last picture). I really wish Bret Easton Ellis would come out with another book. I've already read all of them, and I want more.

Oh Patrick Bateman, you are such a sick fuck.

PS. In case you have no idea what I'm talking about. The quote is from American Psycho, a novel by the fantastic Mr. Bret Easton Ellis, and the picture is of Patrick Bateman as played, in the movie, by Christian Bale.

Games and Restriction, Candy, Twilight and Guns
"Games and Restriction, Candy, Twilight and Guns" from Arena Homme + 's Hard Times issue is always on the brain...well.... for several reasons.. I think they're quite obvious. Anyways, my colleague happened to have this issue, and my zeal for borrowing this editorial resulted in me swearing up and down to him that it was for the amazing styling of Mr. Panos Yiapanis, and not for the naked men. And I was telling the truth (I'm usually attracted to men who look like they might stink a little.. or a lot).
Anyhow, it's too good not to share. So I've scanned the editorial.
I think Mr. Yiapanis needs to come out with a clothing line. I don't believe I've ever been more frustrated with "stylist's own" credits as I am with his.

One Day...
I will hopefully be cruising one of these babies down Pacific Coast Highway, top down, wind blowing in my hair- making it stick to my lip gloss- all the while deafening all those near me with my version of Iron Maiden's The Trooper. Elegant image eh?
Thanks Dad for passing down the love of the road, and forcing me to learn how to drive on a stick shift.
1963 Lincoln Continental Convertible with Suicide Doors in Black. Other colors need not apply.
